Brooby came to me last October all the way from Bulgaria. He was quite excited when he arrived here in Michigan just in time to see the beautiful Fall colors. But, alas, he is getting the itch to travel again. I will miss his company as I sew all sorts of little outfits for my Etsy shop, but I understand he would much rather be playing about with someone closer to his age then to just sit in my sewing studio looking out the window.

So, if you have been looking for a Dani Pavlova doll, now is your chance to get him for the cost of an outfit from my shop. Starting today and running until Monday, January 30 every time you purchase an outfit from my Etsy store I will put your name in for the drawing to win Brooby. Example: if you purchase 2 outfits one day and 3 outfits on another day you will have your name entered 5 times in the drawing.

Unless requested, I will hold off shipping until the end of the contest. If you would like me to ship your purchases before then, just let me know at time of payment. New items will be added during the week, so please feel free to check in often.

I love a challenge! Recently an internet friend of mine asked if I would consider making a Mad Hatter outfit for one of her dolls. So of course my first thought was to dig out my kids old Disney movie and study the cartoon characters outfit. But, it just wasn't motivating me. So I asked her if she would consider a more Johnny Depp version and she said go for it. So I did..........

It’s that time of year again!

“Lounge Abouts in a Bag” are back at Girls and Their Dolls. Each set comes with lounge wear for child and doll, as well as an adorable matching bag for each to carry everything in. There will be several styles to choose from. Click here to see some examples of sets I have made in the previous years. Please note that even though there are no boy sets in the examples shown, I will be adding boy fabrics this year to the lineup.

In the past these sets were sold as “Ready to go”. This year I would like to try a different approach. Each week I will open up two custom spots on my Facebook page. The buyer will choose from the selected fabrics available for that week and will exchange the necessary information such as size/measurements for child and doll and style of lounge wear they would prefer.

Payment must be made (through Paypal) at time spot is given or buyer forfeits spot. I will have the sets finished and shipped by the end of that week.

Prices are as follows and include 1 child set and 1 matching doll set with bags:

Size infant to 3 toddlers - $35

Size 4 toddlers – 6 girl/boy -$45

Size 8 girls – 12 girls/boy $55

Extra doll sets if needed- $8 each

How to win the Bamboletta!!!

For all of you who have been following my Facebook posts about the “Big surprise” it’s time to give you all the details!

I have a Bamboletta doll and a Dragonfly’s Hollow doll that basically wear the same size clothes. My Bambo says she does not want to model for me anymore. It’s just not her thing. She asked if maybe I could find a family that would enjoy playing with her instead. What could I say?

Since my thing is making and selling clothes and not dolls, I thought we could have a little fun finding her a new home. Here is how it is going to work:

Each time you purchase a listed item from my Girls and Their Dolls store during the week of Saturday October 1 through the end of Friday October 7 your name will go into a drawing. On Saturday October 8, I will draw a name for the winner of the Bamboletta doll. That’s it! Your name goes in the drawing for each listed item you purchase during this time. So your chances of winning will increase with each listed item you purchase from my shop. For example: If you buy 3 listed items in one purchase and then 2 more in another purchase you will have your name put in the drawing 5 times.

Because of the nature of this drawing I will not be taking custom orders for the week. All items are a final sale and must be paid for at time of purchase. New items will be added throughout the week. For shipping; I will hold off shipping orders until the winners name is drawn. If you would prefer that I ship right away, just let me know.

Now, here are details on the doll: To the best of my knowledge I am the third owner of this July 2009 Bamboletta. She did not come to me in her original “Forest Fairy” outfit, but I did try to somewhat recreate one. I used fall colors and fabric instead of felt. Sorry, no wings. She has gorgeous brown hair highlighted with sparkly threads. Her head is firmly stuffed, with an almost firm body. There are no stains or tears on her. I would dare say she looks as if she has not been played with too much.

Now would be a great time to stock up on some gifts for future gift giving occasions. And remember, even if you don’t win, you don’t really loose either, because you will be getting some great doll outfits at very reasonable prices.

This is my absolute favorite time of year here in Michigan. Nature really goes all out with gorgeous colors, the air is a little crisp, but no too cold, and we have pumpkins everywhere. I just love pumpkin!

Girls and Their Dolls is celebrating fall too. We have added lots of new fall items to the store and will continue to do so in the upcoming weeks before we move on to the Christmas season. If you are looking for something special, please don't be afraid to send us a note.

We've been enjoying summer vacation too much and have kind of been ignoring the store. So we thought a give-a-way would put us back into the groove of things.

The random winner will get to pick any one item from our "Girls and Their Dolls" store. There are clothes to fit different sized Waldorf style dolls, as well as the American Girl 18" doll or the Bitty Baby or Bitty Twins.

Clothes for 18" Boy Dolls

It has come to our attention that there are a number of people out there who take "well loved" American Girl 18" dolls (and similar dolls) and turn them into boy dolls. Because of this, Girls and Their Dolls thought that maybe there is a need for boy clothes to dress them in. We figure boys like to be fashionable too, right?

A month ago I would not have know what a Waldorf doll was. Now I own three of these adorable dolls! London, my 15" Dragonfly's Hollow doll now has two new playmates. Dallas a 12" Dragonfly's Hollow doll and 8" Opal from Confetti Corner joined us last week. I have been crazy busy making lots of fun clothes for all three of these cuties. Changes in the Wind

Girls and Their Dolls is making some changes. First, I have added a new doll clothes style to my shop. Waldorf dolls are the most adorable dolls and they are so earth friendly too. Most are made of all natural materials. I am having so much fun designing new outfits for these dolls.

Second, and only after much thought, I have made the decision to no longer list matching sets in my store as a regular item. I will list some ready to go "Lounge Abouts" matching sets for the holiday season starting in early fall, and will take custom requests only when time is available. This was such a hard decision for me, but it will help in the overall growth of "Girls and Their Do lls" as a whole.

Now, I wanted to share my new Waldorf doll made by Dragonfly's Hollow. Her name is London and she will be doing most of the modeling for me. Dallas, my boy doll from Dragon's Fly Hollow, will be making his first appearance soon.

Photo shoot

Why oh why won't this snow go away and stay away? I really want it to be warm outside. It's almost April and there is a chance school will be closed tomorrow because of snow. What's up with that!

I was hoping to do an outdoor photo shoot, but because of the weather we stayed indoors. Luckily the local elementary school is near by and they were more then happy to let us do our thing. My model was great and we had a lot of fun.

The "Keeping it Simple" line has been selling quickly and one set has already sold out! I was able to come up with a replacement set of a cute skirt/top combo in knit. It looks so nice on Kylee and her doll. A great set for summer.

I'm thinking I will keep a few knit sets in all my lines, because they are so great to work with and the girls just seem to love wearing them. Patty Young has some great prints to choose from too.

In the mean time I will be making plenty of One-of-a-kinds to keep up my creativity and as always will continue to list lots of clothes for just the doll.

Keeping it Simple

Girls and Their Dolls is now ready to show off the new 2011 spring/summer collection. I call it “Keeping it Simple” to reflect what seems to be the latest in fashion trends; simple styles, in gorgeous bright colors.

With several different designs I’m hoping there is a little something for everyone. You can choose from; short sets, knit dresses, cotton sun dresses, and shirts with cropped leggings. All are custom made to fit girl’s sizes 4 through 10. I will occasionally be adding one of a kind sets in a variety of sizes too.

Now that the newest designs are finished I need to get to work on my scrap pile. I will be adding lots of new American Girl 18” doll clothes as well as Bitty Baby/Twin 15” doll clothes.

New Lounge Wear Designs!

My new Lounge Abouts are now listed in my store at: http://www.sheezadoll.etsy.com/ . So many of you requested designs using other fabrics besides flannel. Well I listened and played around with some great cotton fabrics. I love putting different prints together and I hope you will like what I have come up with.

Also new is the tote style bag. It's a change from the drawstring duffle bag style that has come with the Lounge Abouts in the past. The tote style is fully lined and has an outside pocket for more stuff stashability!

Don't worry all you flannel lovers. I will still be listing the original "Lounge Abouts" using fun print flannel as well.

Wow! The tea party/fashion show was a tremendous success. Everyone seemed to have a really great time. All the girls were beautiful and the dolls too! We set up a little area to have their pictures taken at a small lacey table with a tea setting for two.

Because I had so much fun planning and it was such a success, I'm already tossing around some other really great ideas given to me for Girls and Their Dolls events. Movie night, Day at the beach or Hawiian Luau were just a few of the many suggestions .

Sneak Peak at my Spring/Summer Designs!

I thought I would give you all a sneak peak at my new designs before the fashion show. I will start listing them after February 14th on my Etsy site.

The pink and floral tunic style top has a button down front with a tie in the back. If you leave the bottom half unbuttoned the pair of shorts underneath can peak through.

The top two "Tea Style" dresses will be great for Easter, graduation parties, weddings, showers, and so many other casual dress functions.

Valentines brings new Designs!

The Christmas holidays are behind us and Valentines Day is just around the corner and with it comes my new heart themed shorty "Lounge Abouts".

They would make a great gift for a little girl who owns the Bitty Twin dolls or if they are getting the dolls for Christmas these pajamas would make great stocking stuffers. I can also make pajamas for the 18" American girl doll as well.

Christmas shopping has started for many people and it's been keeping me very, very busy! The "Lounge Abouts" with a bag have always been popular and so far the orders this year prove it's still true.

After 5 years of listing my items on EBay I have decided to move my store to Etsy.com. Click here to check it out. http://sheezadoll.etsy.com or if your there my seller name is sheezadoll.

It was a tough decision for me, due to the fact that my customer base originated from EBay.

For those of you who have never heard of Etsy, give it a try. Etsy.com is a place where you can purchase hand crafted items. There are some really talented people selling there work on this site. Not just clothing but everything you can imagine. My favorite search is photography.

If you are an artist of any type and sell on line you might want to consider Etsy as a place to show your work. The fees are very reasonable. This was the main reason I made the switch.

Any how.......I have lots of my famous "Jammies in a Bag" listed right now and am working on some pretty fun play wear for girls and their dolls! This is a great time to start buying those Christmas gifts.

An introduction

Designing matching sets for “Little Girls and Their Dolls” has been a journey for me. It started with my daughter’s purchase of an American Girl Doll. I made a few outfits and enjoyed coming up with designs that were unique for her doll.

Alas, all little girls grow up and my daughter was no exception. She no longer wanted to play with her doll but I still wanted to make the clothes. After a little research I found a market on eBay for my matching sets. I became known for “Jammies in a Bag” and it is still my top seller.

Starting this blog is my way of branching out my business. I hope to post my new designs as they are completed so I can share them with you.
